ALL ABOUT ME

My name is Vanessa Castro. I am from the Bronx, but I am Dominican. I am very energetic. I like to help others and  im involved in many different programs. I am very creative and I love decorating my room. I love dogs and I am a family person. I currently study at Harry S.Truman high school and will be graduating in the year of 2020. After I graduate from high school I would like to attend at John Jay college to study criminal justice to lead me to become an FBI agent. I became interested in becoming this because I love this show called criminal minds and it made me want to become a FBI agent. Also, in the future I would like to get married and have 7 kids. My dream is to make a difference in the world and make it a better place to live in. I love to spend time with my friends and family and enjoy watching movies, especially horror movies. One thing a lot of people don't know is that I play the violin and I play at different churches. One thing that is unique about me is that my left eyebrow has an unnatural arch that is higher than the sun.

ABOUT EVC

The project that we are doing is about violence. We are creating our own websites and a group website to help spread the word about violence and how we need to make a change so that our society can become a better environment for us and our future. We came up with this topic because now in the news all you here is violence. You se so many killings that are occurring in our own community and it hurts to see too many people dying especially that the ones that are being killed is our youth. We decided to do a website to help and change people's perspective of seeing things and we don't just want us, but the community to also help and do something to help decrease violence.

We have done a lot of research and watched many different videos that gave us many information to help us create this wonderful group website. We also did many street interviews and it was a great experience because it made me not to be as shy as before. By doing the street interviews we got a lot of information and other people's opinions that led us to create our website. By doing all of these things I've learned a lot about violence and not only that, I also learned how to create a video.

EVC began with a simple idea: put video cameras in the hands of teenagers and teach them to go out into the city and craft stories about the world as they see it- with all its problems and possibilities. While the technology has changed over the past three decades, we've stayed true to our core values and mission through our after-school and summer Youth Documentary Workshops: New Media Arts Program: Professional Development Programs: and Community Engagement and Dissemination Initiatives.

REFLECTION

We bring social justice and media together by everyone being united and one. Everyone needs to be there for one another one another and help support each other so that everyone can be equal and have justice for all.

REFLECTION

At first I was very nervous because I am not use to to talking to random people. I was scared if the people rejected me when I asked them a question. the more we interviewed people the more I started to lose my nervousness. My thoughts on the street interviews and production experiences very fun and something that I enjoyed very much. I would like to do it another time and I feel like next time I do it, I will not be as shy as the first timed we will do a better job at questioning the people. Next time we go back out to interview people we should work on talking to more people and I believe that next time we should have more various types of questions to asl lots and lots of questions to the people.

REFLECTION

Today in the teams I was helping decide where the music should go or like help decide what colors the back ground should be. One of the videos that we chose to put was this man and his son fighting and Cordel blared it and put a question in front of the video.

REFLECTION

To me the most passionate topic is violence. I believe this is the most passionate topic because there is so much cruelty happening in this world lately. People are becoming to violent and don't know how to control themselves, and are taking innocent people's lives. The news is filled with violent reports every single day and it affects me very much because I don't like seeing no one getting harm and it just makes me think of what our future will be come of if we don't do something to stop it.

A lot of young lives have been taken away from us lately because of violence. Many family and friends are hurt and going through so much right now because they have lost loved ones by a very cruel way. I know that I would be devastate if one of my loved ones was brutally murdered by someone. We should stand up and do something about it.

REFLECTION

The most important part about the section my group and I edited in premiere today was when we was cropping the videos and editing it. To me the most challenging part was trying to put the exact time for the video.

REFLECTION

Our main target is the youth. I believe its the youth because the youth is the one that are getting themselves into so much trouble and are ending up in bad situations. They are so nieve and they want to be noticed and seem like they are tuff.
